- The term "migrant worker" refers to "a person who is to be engaged, is engaged or has been engaged in a remunerated activity in a State of which he or she is not a national." A migrant worker can also be referred to as (a) "frontier worker" if he or she retains the habitual residence in a neighbouring State to which he or she normally returns every day or at least once a week; (b) "seasonal worker" when his work by its character is dependent on seasonal condition and is performed only during part of the year; (c) "seafarer"(which includes a fisherman), when that person is employed on board vessel registered in a State of which he or she is not a national; (d) "worker on an offshore installation" (under the jurisdiction of a State of which he or she is not a national; (e) "itinerant worker" when the person retains his or her habitual residence in one State, but travels to another State or States for short periods, owing to the nature of his or her occupation; (f) "project-tied worker" (see International Convention on Migrant Workers, art. 2).
- «L'expression `travailleurs migrants' désigne les personnes qui vont exercer, exercent ou ont exercé une activité rémunérée dans un État dont elles ne sont pas ressortissantes». Il existe en outre plusieures catégories de travailleurs migrants : a) «travailleurs frontaliers» -- ceux qui maintiennent leur résidence habituelle dans un État voisin auquel ils reviennent en principe chaque jour ou au moins une fois par semaine ; b) «travailleurs saisonniers» -- dont l'activité, par sa nature, dépend des conditions saisonnières et ne peut être exercée que pendant une partie de l'année ; c) «gens de mer» -- qui comprend les pêcheurs, des travailleurs employés à bord d'un navire immatricul? dans un État dont ils ne sont pas ressortissants ; d) «travailleurs d'une installation en mer» qui relève de la juridiction d'un État dont ils ne sont pas ressortissants ; e) «travailleurs intinérants» -- qui, ayant leur résidence habituelle dans un État, doivent de par la nature de leur activité, se rendre dans d'autres États pour de courtes périodes ; f) «travailleurs employés au titre de projets» -- ceux qui sont admis dans un État d'emploi pour un temps détermin? pour travailler uniquement à un projet spécifique exécuté dans cet État par leur employeur (voir la Convention internationale relative aux travailleurs migrants, art. 2).
