- Refers particularly to wrongful removal or retention of a child in breach of rights of custody or access attributed to a person, an institution or any other body under the law of the State in which the child was habitually resident (Convention on the Rights of the Child - s. 3). Use the term "kidnapping" in all other cases
- Le terme «enlèvement d'enfant» s'applique en particulier au déplacement ou d'un non-retour illicites d'un enfant en violation d'un droit de garde ou de visite attribu? à une personne, une institution ou tout autre organisme par le droit de l'État dans lequel l'enfant avait sa résidence habituelle (Convention relative aux droits de l'enfant - art. 3).
