In 2011, when Collections moved to the Design + New Media department (later called Design + New Media & Collections), the Research, Content and Scholarship department name was then changed to Research and Curation.

This file consists of an oral history interview with Thomas R. Berger, and associated documents. The interview was conducted by Armando Perla, with videographer Jessica Sigurdson, on October 20, 2010.

Mr. Berger speaks about:
• His family history, law career and political career as an MLA and as leader of the Provincial NDP in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.
• His work on several important human rights commissions and inquiries, including the Royal Commission on Family and Children’s Law, the MacKenzie Valley Pipeline Inquiry, the Nunavut Project, the World Bank Commission in India and the Jericho Hill School Inquiry.
• His work as legal counsel in several important human rights cases, including the White and Bob case and the Linda MacDonald case.
• What human rights mean to him, what challenges human rights are facing today and his hopes and dreams for the future.
