In 2011, when Collections moved to the Design + New Media department (later called Design + New Media & Collections), the Research, Content and Scholarship department name was then changed to Research and Curation.

This file consists of an oral history interview with Arthur “Art” Miki, and associated documents. The interview was conducted by Rhonda Hinther, with videographer Jessica Sigurdson, on December 14, 2010.

Mr. Miki speaks about:
• His family and growing up in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
• His and his family’s experiences with the forced relocation to a Manitoba sugar beet farm in 1941-42 and how it impacted them.
• Work as a teacher and principal in Winnipeg, his experiences as a Japanese-Canadian and his interactions with other Japanese-Canadians in Winnipeg.
• His extensive involvement and instrumental role in the successful redress movement when President of the National Association of Japanese Canadians, and his experiences with politicians and the Japanese-Canadian community during and after that process.
